In our updated collages, we incorporated everything from our original collages in an organized way.
Our Home page incorporates a new search function and new visuals from weather.com. We are looking into data visualization for this incorporation. We also added a like and dislike feature using the ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down’.
I was in charge of the Popular music page. For this page, I added an “Around the World” feature. This feature lets the user discover music based on location and/or weather. They are allowed to add stations to a playlist or simply look up playlists based on location. For instance, in Barcelona, Spain, it might be raining. The playlist for Barcelona will be vastly different from a playlist for New York, where it is cloudy and cold.
For my mood board, I created weather icons reflective of Last.FM’s original style which uses a lot of simple line and geometric shapes. The original icons are found on The Weather Channel’s website. I also used colors that reflect the main page’s color scheme. Red as a major accent. I regret not showing this range in terms of importance.
In terms of images, Last.FM’s style comes across as a flash of vintage vs. modern. They use black and white imagery a majority of the time, with occasional hints of color images.
Because of the ‘nightowl’ feel of the site, I used images of weather that still feel organic with the color theme.
